I use and like Transtint dyes. Golden brown and dark mission brown are good colors. Reddish brown is unnatural, pink-ish and just all around bad. I tried it standard strength, I tried it half strength, I tried it 1 part reddish brown to three parts golden brown. None were good. It lead to a massive refinishing project that I hadn't planned on.3. Applied 2 coats of water based dye - let dry. 4. Applied 2 coats of high gloss varathane. 5. Applied a final coat satin varathane to tone down the gloss. I did this about 3 months agoand there are no adhhesion issues so far. The transtint cherry is much too red for my taste. I rarely stain or tint to try to produce an imitation cherry or other wood.
