I have the American in 308 and the Axis in 223. Will probably only keep the Ruger. The Axis just feels flimsier and the bolt does takes some serious effort to open when it's new. It's plenty accurate though - had no problem sighting it in at 100 yards (no problem with the gun anyways - had trouble seeing the bullet holes at that distance ...No experience with Ruger American but will vouch for the Savage axis..
